A walk on the cheap side is a collection of recipes, tips and cooking tricks to help feeding yourself at the last minute and with a little budget, shameless of where you bought your ingredients and shameless of not cooking properly. There is so much land between 6 spicy chicken wings for a pound and Nigella Lawson that we may well explore it (and still like chicken wings and Nigella).
Let’s be honest first. Not always we go shopping at the farmers market or at the local organic shop. We may not have even a local organic shop. We may not have the budget even to afford the organic line of a regular supermarket and we want to spend the list possible at our closest Aldi or Lidl (bless them). We are surrounded by junk food selling establishments and off licences. We have no time and no money, we don’t want to leave the sofa if we have one. And we are hungry or we know we will have to eat at a certain point.
There is nothing wrong with that, that’s reality. Accept it. Accept that no matter what, we will end up sometimes eating kebab and fried chicken without even unpack it properly and that our fridge and wallet will be empty.
Now that we are conscious of reality we can make it better.
We can organize our kitchen cabinet and make some last minute cheap buy, cook quickly, eating decently, save money for books and concerts, save our liver for beer and nice street food when we can actually enjoy our free time.
That’s something we can believe in without side effects!
